Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the “final” expansion pack for Destiny 2, which will bring back the player favorite Cayde-6 and summarize the first decade of the Destiny series, will be released only on June 4, 2024.

Bungie says it wants to make an even bigger and better version of the expansion, but it seems to be a reflection of recent layoffs in the studio, as well as very negative player feedback on the latest game updates. For example, Destiny 2: Lightfall, which was released in February 2023, has a Steam rating of 30/100.

Due to the postponement of The Final Shape release date, Season of the Wish, which begins today, November 28, 2023, and was supposed to end in February 2024, will be extended until June 2024. In April 2024, Destiny 2: Into the Light will launch a two-month content update to prepare players for The Final Shape.

Earlier in 2022, Sony acquired Bungie for $3.6 billion. And in May 2023, it became known that Bungie was developing a new game, or rather Extraction, a shooter in the Marathon universe.
