Players have reported a warning displayed on the Xbox when connecting unauthorized accessories, notifying them of the date their accessories will be locked with “error 0x82d60002” – November 12, 2023, writes Windows Central.

«A connected accessory is not authorized. Using unauthorized accessories compromises your gaming experience. For this reason, the unauthorized accessory will be blocked from use on 11/12/2023.
For help returning it, check with the store it came from or contact the manufacturer. To see authorized accessories, go to www.xbox.com/accessories. (0x82d60002).»

According to Windows Central’s own source, this may be due to Microsoft’s plans to expand its third-party wireless Xbox controller approval program. Right now, the lion’s share of third-party Xbox controllers are wired, even top-of-the-line controllers with hefty price tags. This can be easily verified by visiting the Official and Authorized Xbox Controllers page.
