The social platform Threads was able to attract 10 million registrations around the world within seven hours of its launch. But it turned out that the Twitter competitor has an unexpected condition of use – deleting the Threads account will lead to the closure of the associated Instagram profile, says TechCrunch.
“You may deactivate your Threads profile at any time, but your Threads profile can only be deleted by deleting your Instagram account,” Meta stated in its Additional Privacy Policy.
The company explained this by the fact that the Threads profile is part of the user’s Instagram account. The discovery of this provision unexpectedly surprised many users.
“I deactivated my threads account already but it turns out you can’t delete your threads account *without also deleting your Instagram account* so maybe just don’t sign up!” writes one of the users.

We remind you that today Meta officially launched a new Threads, a social platform developed by the Instagram team, which will directly compete with Elon Musk’s Twitter. You can enter Threads using the application on Android and iOS, the platform does not yet have a full web version, just like it used to on Instagram.
Currently, Threads offers users the ability to create posts with a length of 500 characters, add photos and videos with a time duration of up to 5 minutes.
