Poland plans to provide Ukraine with 60 more modernized Soviet tanks (30 of them PT-91 Twardy) and 14 Leopard 2
Poland is the largest supplier of tanks to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and it seems that the country wants to consolidate this position. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki told the Canadian CTV News about the new delivery of tanks, which will include Polish PT-91 Twardy and Leopard 2.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, according to Oryx, Poland has already delivered more than 260 modernized Soviet T-72MR and T-72M1R tanks to Ukraine. Soon, Poland is going to add 60 more modernized Soviet tanks to this tank army, 30 of which are quite good PT-91 Twardy. In addition, as part of a broad coalition, Poland will supply Ukraine with 14 more Leopard 2s. Most likely, these are Leopard 2A4, Leopard 2A5 or Leopard 2PL, which are in service with the Polish Army.
PT-91 Twardy have already been spotted in Ukraine in July 2022. This is a Polish modification of the Soviet T-72 tank, which was produced in 1995–2009. The tank has a new engine and additional dynamic ERAWA protection, which makes the PT-91 Twardy less visible to technical means of detection and increases its survivability by 30-70%.
