New flagship smartphone vivo X80 Pro received an unusually large ultrasonic fingerprint scanner from Qualcomm
Vivo recently released new flagship smartphones, which began selling in the Chinese market. Now the company has announced the launch of global sales, which will begin in India, and later in other countries in the Middle East, Latin America, and Europe.
The capabilities of the smartphone, as expected from the company’s top solution, are appropriate. It is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen1 processor, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 or 512 GB of storage. It supports 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, multiple navigation systems, and NFC. Installed operating system – Android 12 with Funtouch 12. The battery capacity is 4700 mAh. Of course with support for high-speed wired (80 W) and induction (50 W) charging, the first is even included.
This smartphone has 4 cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera with ƒ/1.6; a periscope telephoto camera with a resolution of 8 MP and ƒ/3.4 which provides 5x optical zoom; a 12-megapixel telephoto camera with ƒ/1,9 and a 2-fold increase; as well as an ultra-wide-angle camera with 48 MP, ƒ/2.2 and a grip angle of 114 °. The smartphone also has a separate vivo processor V1 + ISP for image processing. Additional features include bokeh video recording. The resolution of the front camera is 32 MP and the aperture value ƒ/1.6.
The large 6.78-inch display uses an LTPO3 AMOLED matrix with a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels. It supports a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and thanks to a peak brightness of 1500 cd / m² also supports HDR10 +.
A special curiosity became a big fingerprints scanner under the screen. It’s 3D Ultrasonic Large Fingerprint Sensor by Qualcomm. Thanks to the large size of the ultrasonic sensor, it will be much easier for the user to unlock the smartphone without having to get used to the location of the “normal” small scanner.
The company notes that the scanner responds easily to wet fingers (the case has protection against moisture and dust IP68), is much faster to configure, and has additional protection features (to unlock you need to attach two fingers to the screen).
The site mentions only a glass version in Cosmic Black, but in China, there are options for ceramics, artificial leather, and other colors. It will cost approximately starting from $900.
Of course, there is a simplified version of the vivo X80 in the lineup. It has simpler features: MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor, options with less memory, one telephoto lens, lower display resolution (even a regular OLED matrix without energy-saving features), smaller battery, and no support for induction charging. But the price of this version is three times lower.
