Google Pixel 8 Pro has been put through the JerryRigEverything endurance test. The case slightly improved the results of its predecessor
Apple and Google are presenting their updated flagships with a slight difference in dates. This means that now not only the new iPhone has to endure the “abuse” of various crash tests. So the endurance tests have begun with the Google Pixel 8 Pro. Having passed the recent drop test, the smartphone also passed the standard damage algorithm on the JerryRigEverything channel.
Thus, minor changes in the materials of the case did not lead to anything new. The metal bezels on the sides and around the cameras are still quite easy to scratch, while the glass hasn’t changed its protective properties. Only the back panel, which now has a matte finish, can resist minor scratches a little better.
An unpleasant moment was the protective coating of the new temperature sensor, which is located under the flash. Unlike the glass above the cameras, the temperature sensor is easily scratched. Unfortunately, Mr. Nelson did not indicate how much this could affect the sensor’s performance.
But the improvements in the overall structure of the device are much more pleasant. Previously, Pixel smartphones had a weakness in the antenna locations. Thus, the case could suffer from excessive pressure from the back. And here, the new Google Pixel 8 Pro is much better than its predecessor.
However, given the fact that the company promises 7 years of support for new models, those who want to keep the device in the best possible condition throughout its life will most likely need to turn to protective accessories, as aluminum and glass are not the most durable materials.
