Crystal Dynamics has announced a new round of layoffs. The studio does not specify the exact number of employees being laid off, but calls the reasons for such decisions "changing business conditions."
"Today we made the very difficult decision to part ways with a number of our talented colleagues as the result of evolving business conditions. This decision was not made lightly. It was necessary, however, to ensure the long-term health of our studio and core creative priorities in a continually shifting market," LinkedIn said in a statement.
The laid-off employees will receive full support and resources from Crystal Dynamics, but the studio notes that the layoffs will not affect the development of the new Tomb Raider game.
Recall that the new game in the Tomb Raider series will be released under the wing of Amazon, and not Square Enix, like the previous three parts from the Californian studio. Last year, there were also reports that the game's events will take place in an open world, but there are no other details at the moment.
In addition to the games, Tomb Raider is also getting a series for the streaming service Amazon Prime Video. The role of Lara Croft in the show "Tomb Raider" could go to "Game of Thrones" star Sophie Turner.
