Apple and Google announced the best apps of the year on Google Play and the App Store. Despite the incredible popularity of ChatGPT and other similar programs, none of the companies chose an AI application.

Google Play chose Imprint: Learn Visually, an app that teaches psychology, philosophy, history, finance, leadership, business, health, science, technology, and more through visualization.

In the App Store, the app of the year was AllTrails, which helps users explore the world outdoors. The program helps to find trails, paths, and routes for those people who like to hike, bike, or even just walk in parks or forests.

In addition to the decision of both companies to ignore the artificial intelligence trend, the companies also disagreed on another issue: the game of the year. Both Google and Apple have chosen Honkai: Star Rail as the best mobile game of 2023. This is a new game from the authors of Genshin Impact, the Chinese miHoYo.

Google awarded the program Character AI: AI-Powered Chat. Chat GPT received only an honorable mention.
