There was a news story about the Mazda2 update, and it mentioned the existence of two different cars with the same name. Now the “two” has been updated again, but this time it’s a different example – the Mazda2 Hybrid hatchback, which is a clone of the Toyota Yaris.

The update was to reduce the similarity between the two cars. Therefore, the updated Mazda2 Hybrid hatchback received a new bumper with widened side sections and a black insert at the bottom. The car also now has a more traditional Mazda grille. Other changes to the Mazda2 Hybrid include a new trunk lid design with black niches near the lights, as well as black wheels.

Some changes are also provided for the interior. From now on, Mazda2 Hybrid boasts a dashboard in the form of a large 12.3-inch monitor and a central 10.5-inch touchscreen display. In addition, the list of equipment has been slightly expanded depending on the configuration.

However, the rest remains unchanged. In keeping with its name, this compact 3.94-meter-long Mazda2 Hybrid is equipped with a hybrid powertrain – also with a small gasoline engine. Only three cylinders and a 1.5-liter displacement, but plus an electric motor: in total, the “couple” produces 116 hp, which is enough to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 175 km/h. Not impressive? That’s right – because the fuel efficiency of 3.8-4.3 liters per 100 km should be impressive: this is probably the most economical Toyo… Mazda!
