Baldur’s Gate III continues to set records

As we expected, Baldur’s Gate III saw a significant increase in players over the weekend. On Sunday, August 6, 2023, the number of concurrent Steam players online in Baldur’s Gate III amounted to 814, 666 people, which is almost twice as many as on the day of release.

Over the weekend, Baldur’s Gate III confidently held onto second place in terms of online players, ahead of even Dota 2. In total, the game had the ninth largest online player base on Steam, second only to Hogwarts Legacy with 879,308 players on the first weekend after its release on February 12, 2023.

According to analysts, such an impressive start on PC will help the release of Baldur’s Gate III on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The launch date on PS5 is already known – it is September 6, 2023, and the game has already appeared on the first tape pre-orders in the American PlayStation Store. Most likely, Baldur’s Gate III will not show the same outstanding results on consoles as on PC, after all, hardcore CRPGs are primarily PC products, but it will be able to set a record for games of its genre on consoles.

A release date for Baldur’s Gate III on the Xbox X/S consoles has not yet been announced due to the technical limitations of split-screen co-op on the Xbox S. It will most likely be in 2024.
