Cinemas, pavilions and productions: a studio complex will be built in Abu Dhabi by 2025
In the capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, where parts of the Hollywood franchises “Dune”, “Star Wars” and “The Fast and the Furious” were filmed, a large studio complex twofour54 Studios will be built, writes Variety.
The announcement of the investment in the world-class studio comes as neighboring Saudi Arabia begins to gain momentum in attracting international productions.
“Twofour54 Studios will be a future-proof, virtual production-ready, metaverse-enabled and fully-fledged production destination, addressing high demand in the regional and global production landscape,” stated the state-owned media and production hub twofour54.
The complex will cover an area of more than 100 acres. It will have a variety of pavilions, office spaces, as well as post-production and cinema facilities.
“The creative industries have been identified as one of Abu Dhabi’s priority sectors given the important economic and social value they create,” said Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, CEO of twofour54 Abu Dhabi parent company ADNEC Group.
It is assumed that the launch of the complex will create new jobs, contribute to the development of the local economy and bring film and television production to a new level.
It is known that Abu Dhabi is gaining more and more popularity as a location for international production. In addition to Hollywood filming, the city and the desert around it also attract Bollywood productions.
