The Honda S2000 sports car might return before the end of the year, but as an electric car

It’s possible, says CAR Magazine and adds interesting details: this year Honda is celebrating its own 75th anniversary and can give itself a present. Last time, during the celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary, the Honda S2000 sports car was presented: it became a real star of the early 2000s thanks to its powerful engine and refined control. However, this time it is necessary to pay attention to the company’s plans for the electrification of its own model range, which, among other things, mentioned two sports cars.

If one of them is the successor to the large super coupe Honda NSX, the other electric car is just like the potential compact sports car Honda S2000 EV. Moreover, it should enter the key markets in 2024, which means the need for a debut at the end of 2023.

But with the other, there are still many questions. The layout of the car is not clear – the placement of the electric motor and the type of drive: front, rear, four-wheel drive. In the latter case, accordingly, the use of two electric motors will be required. The size of the battery and the power reserve are not clear. And the most important thing: the cost is not clear, since the competitors of the potential Honda S2000 EV will be the MG Cyberster and the future Porsche Boxster EV – that is, it will not be cheap.
