Meta, Google and OpenAI pledge to the White House to develop AI responsibly

Seven of the largest AI companies have made a voluntary commitment to the White House to protect users in AI-related matters, writes The Verge.

These companies are Amazon, Anthropic, Google, Inflection, Meta, Microsoft and OpenAI. Their pledges include investing in cybersecurity, researching discrimination, and creating a labeling system for AI-generated content.

The companies agreed to this voluntarily, so there are currently no consequences if they don’t follow through on their promises. Many of these obligations are not expected to be implemented immediately, but companies should start working on their implementation immediately.

The day before, during a conversation with reporters, a White House representative said that the administration of President Joe Biden is working on an executive order to eliminate some of the risks associated with AI. The official did not provide details, but said that appropriate measures may be adopted in all federal agencies and departments.

We will remind that Great Britain in the fall of 2023 will host the first global summit on security of Artificial Intelligence. It is planned to consider the risks associated with artificial intelligence. It will also discuss how they can be mitigated through internationally coordinated action.
