Mitsubishi company “did it again”. Do you remember the story about the new Mitsubishi ASX? Recently, the Japanese presented a new Mitsubishi Colt hatchback, and it is again a copy of Renault, namely the model Renault Clio. Just look at the shared bodywork, headlights and taillights, doors and window lines. The difference is only in the radiator grille and logos. Here, compare.

And there is also a difference in the engine range. The Mitsubishi Colt car will receive only gasoline engines. The usual 1-liter naturally aspirated engine (67 hp) or its turbo version (91 hp), plus a 5- or 6-speed manual transmission, respectively. An alternative is the hybrid version, which combines a 1.6-liter engine and an electric motor: the total power reaches 145 hp, which is already interesting! However, there will be no diesel version, no gas version either.

There are also no differences in the interior. All the originality of Mitsubishi Colt is focused on the steering wheel with its own logo and other seat decoration options. But the front panel, central console, digital instruments, touch 7- or 9.3-inch display are identical to the French relative. Here, compare.

Why does this happen? Because the Mitsubishi company is currently concentrating its efforts on the development of SUVs, crossovers, and pickups. But it also wants to be present on the European market, if only as a result of such copying and in the most popular B-segments. After all, if you recall the history of Mitsubishi Colt in Europe, the car was presented on the market from 1978 to 2014, and during this time it was possible to sell more than 1.2 million copies.

Of course, you won’t find such popularity for Mitsubishi Colt now. But if it is possible to get at least some sales as a result of almost free cloning of cars of alliance partners – then why not take advantage of this opportunity?
