One can endlessly discuss word formation in Ukrainian and the appropriateness of using those or other words instead of the usual English terms. Still, Ukrainian localizations of games and especially Frogwares games are always “something”.

The Kyiv Frogwares studio, despite its founder and permanent director being a Frenchman, Waël Amr (who in fact has long felt Ukrainian), is distinguished by a consistent pro-Ukrainian position. We will remind that back in 2014 the game Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is dedicated to the Heavenly Hundred, refused to be published in Russia, and numerous references to Ukraine, as well as Ukrainian vyshyvanka as one of the clothing options of the main character, were in all the latest games of the studio.

Of course, there are such “Easter eggs” in Sherlock Holmes The Awakened. Like, for example, the sunken Moskva ship, which suffered “bavovna” (explosion).

If we remember that tomorrow we celebrate the anniversary of the moment when Moskva cruiser went in a known direction, such trolling on the part of the developers looks even more apt.

Sherlock Holmes The Awakened

In addition, I would like to point out that Frogwares has marked the page of Sherlock Holmes The Awakened with a stripe in the colours of the Ukrainian flag and the inscription Made in Ukraine. A very good initiative, we hope all Ukrainian developers will join it.
