GoPro has announced a modified version of the popular action camera, aimed at the use on drones – Hero 10 Black Bones.

Hero 10 Black Bones offers features such as the HyperSmooth 4.0 stabilization system and the ability to shoot videos with characteristics of 5.3K@60, 4K@120 or 2.7K@240, while weighing only 54 g – three times less than the usual Hero 10 Black. This makes it suitable for 3-inch class and bigger drones.

Reduced weight by 100 g (compared to Hero 10 Black) was achieved by removing its own battery. GoPro Bones is powered by a drone battery. The camera has the same processor and image sensor as the Hero 10 Black.

According to GoPro founder Nicholas Woodman, “Bones is an important step in our strategy to leverage GoPro’s core camera-technology to produce derivative products that address the needs of a specific audience of customers. Bones delivers HERO10 Black image quality and performance in a lightweight body that is ideal for aerial cinematography”.

Currently Hero 10 Black Bones is only available in the US, you can buy the camera on the official website . The cost is $500 without a subscription to GoPro services, $400 for new users and $350 for those who already have active accounts.
