Following preliminary testing and feedback, Oura Health Ltd is rolling out Symptom Radar to Oura Ring 3 and Oura Ring 4 smart ring owners. The new feature can help detect early signs of illness.

Symptom Radar analyzes the data collected by the smart ring to detect potential signs of overload. The feature tracks more than 40 biometrics, including skin temperature, average temperature trends, respiratory rate, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, inactivity time, and takes into account demographic information such as age.

By tracking changes in these indicators over time, Oura Ring 3 and Oura Ring 4 can recommend focusing on rest in the coming days to support the immune system and help the body recover from exertion.

Oura Ring smart rings can now detect early signs of disease

The Oura app has several levels of early warning signs: no signs, minor abnormalities, and significant signs. It displays which biometric indicators indicate deviations from your baseline health and may indicate a possible disease.

If users are alerted to a possible illness, they can activate a rest mode that temporarily pauses all internal goals, such as the required number of steps per day, calories burned, etc. However, the Symptom Radar feature will continue to monitor your vitals even in this mode.

As a reminder, the Oura Ring 4 smart ring made its debut recently. It has a completely round shape and new Smart Sensing technology.
