Oura Health Oy has officially unveiled a new generation of its smart rings – Oura Ring 4. The smart ring has become more precise, will be made entirely of titanium, and will receive several other improvements, and the company has also updated its smartphone app.

The smart ring has a lightweight body with built-in sensors. Thanks to new design solutions, Oura Ring 4 became the company’s first fully round ring in the thinnest form factor yet. In addition, the company introduced a wider range of sizes – from 4 to 15. In addition, the company promises up to eight days of battery life.

However, the most important changes are hidden inside. The fourth generation of the Oura smart ring is built around the new Smart Sensing technology, which aims to increase the accuracy of sensors and user data collection. This technology is based on an algorithm that, together with the sensors, matches the unique finger physiology of each ring wearer.

Oura Ring 4 has 18 sensors, as opposed to 8 in the third generation. They will automatically adapt to the wearer’s finger to establish the best signal path and ensure continuous transmission of readings in any situation.

The company says that thanks to Smart Sensing, it was able to obtain 120% better signal quality for measuring blood oxygen (SpO2), which results in a 30% increase in the accuracy of the average nightly SpO2 measurement. In addition, the Oura Ring 4 has a 15% more accurate breathing disturbance index (BDI), 7% fewer gaps in the daytime pulse, and 31% fewer gaps in the nighttime pulse.

In addition to this, the company introduced a completely redesigned Oura app for smartphones. Over the past few years, the app has grown to include many features, and to make it easier for users to find them, the company has redesigned the app into three tabs: one to show the usual daily readings, one to give a more detailed look at the readings, and one to view long-term progress and changes.

The Oura Ring 4 smart ring will be available on October 15, 2024, starting at $349, $50 more expensive than the previous generation, which is in line with the company’s CEO’s statements about the desire to increase profits.

In addition, users will need a subscription for $5.99 per month, but the price remains the same. The previous generation Oura Ring 3 will also be available for purchase until the company runs out of stock.
