Kojima Production has acquired full rights to the Death Stranding intellectual property and unexpectedly released the Director’s Cut version on Xbox Series X|S. It was reported by IGN.

It was released on Microsoft consoles on November 7, 2024, exactly 5 years after the game was first released exclusively for PlayStation 4. The deal with Sony eventually ended. The studio’s press release says that Kojima Production will continue to focus on making Death Stranding available on more platforms.

“It is my pleasure to finally announce that Death Stranding Director’s Cut will be delivered to Xbox players. I would like to thank all the fans who have stayed connected with us as well as everyone in the Xbox community who have been patiently waiting. Kojima Productions (Death Stranding) will continue to connect more and more players around the world, so please stay tuned,” said the head of the studio Hideo Kojima.

We remind you that Kojima Production is currently working on the second part of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. In May, Kojima said that the recording of actors was completed. The game is due to be released in 2025.

In addition, Kojima Production is also working on a new spy game called Physint. The studio will start working on the game after 2025. According to Kojima himself, this project will be the culmination of his career.
