Windows 10 version 21H2 and 22H2 users will receive the mandatory update KB5040427, which will turn Copilot into a full-fledged program and cannot be missed. This was reported by Tom’s Hardware.

Windows 10 has previously added support for Copilot artificial intelligence, but so far only in the form of a widget. With the new update, Microsoft’s chatbot will turn into a full-fledged program that can be moved around the screen, resized, and pinned to the taskbar.

However, if you’re not a big fan of artificial intelligence and don’t think it’s something you need, you can’t skip the update either. Since it is mandatory, the update will be installed as soon as the system is connected to the network.

Microsoft does not yet have an exact timetable for the distribution of the update. It will not be available to all users of the operating system at once, but will be rolled out gradually, so for some, the update may not be available for a while.

As a reminder, official support for Windows 10 will end in October 2025. Despite this, Microsoft has recently added an additional Beta channel where new features for the OS will be tested for some time.
