After several months of testing, Notepad in Windows 11 has finally received support for a new feature – spell checking. It is already being rolled out to all users. This was reported by Tom’s Hardware.

Now misspelled words are immediately underlined in red, and Notepad suggests correct spellings.

Microsoft has left Notepad virtually unchanged for quite some time, but over the past year, the company has released many useful updates that improve the editor.

For example, the company has introduced a tabbed system, dark mode, character count display, and is supposedly working on Copilot integration.

It took Microsoft “only” 41 years to add a seemingly obvious feature to a text editor that was first released in March 1983.
