Elon Musk started selling the names of inactive accounts on X for $50 thousand.

Elon Musk’s company X has started selling the names of inactive accounts on the platform formerly called Twitter at a price of $50 thousand. This is reported by PCmag with reference to Forbes.

According to the publication, the initiative is being worked on by X’s internal team, known as @HandleTeam. Its goal is to create an appropriate platform. It is also noted that for the time being, potential buyers are sent requests to pay a fixed amount for the sale.

Last year, Elon Musk said that a large number of accounts on the platform are used by bots. Then he announced his intention to start “freeing” such accounts. In response, the billionaire was offered to create a platform where users could trade accounts like at an auction.

According to the company’s policy, users should log in at least once every 30 days to keep their accounts active. According to DemandSage, as of 2023, there are 1.3 billion accounts on Platform X. Only 237.8 million of them are active on a daily basis.
