The Honda Prelude can be called, if not a legend, then at least a “landmark coupe” of the 1980s and 1990s: several generations, a nice design, powerful VTEC engines, and versions with all-wheel drive (the rear wheels rotated). It wasn’t a supercar, but the Honda Prelude coupe definitely had something interesting to offer, both in terms of design and driving pleasure.

However, at the beginning of the 21st century, the history of the Honda Prelude came to an end. Honda offered several other coupes, but not the Prelude. In fact, the history of these coupes also came to an end – so now Honda is trying to solve several issues with one solution: to bring back the well-known Prelude name and also to create a compact-midsize coupe.

The concept car of the new Honda Prelude coupe was recently presented at the Japanese motor show. And despite the “concept” status, everything looks almost ready for mass production – that is, the design of the production Honda Prelude will be similar: the roofline, combined headlights and lights, and stampings on the doors and wheel arches. Small details may change, but not the overall look.

Також автомобіль Honda Prelude отримає гібридну силову установку. Наразі деталі не відомі, проте у компанії Honda є гібрид на моделях Honda CR-V and Honda Accord. Based on a 2-liter gasoline engine and an additional electric motor, this hybrid develops 204-207 “horses”, which is quite enough for a Honda Prelude coupe.

More information will become available closer to the start of mass production of the Honda Prelude coupe – which is expected to happen in 2024. However, even now the very fact that the Honda Prelude coupe is returning to the total world of crossovers is frankly inspiring!
