Hollywood actors have failed to agree on working conditions with movie studios. Negotiations between the actors’ guild SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) have broken down, writes Engadget.
According to SAG-AFTRA, this happened due to “intimidation tactics” on the part of the studios. The fact is that the company executives decided to leave the new round of negotiations without any counterproposals for the actors.
“We have negotiated with them in good faith, despite the fact that last week they presented an offer that was, shockingly, worth less than they proposed before the strike began,” SAG-AFTRA added.
As a reminder, Hollywood actors went on strike in July. One of the main reasons is that studios want to get AI copies of actors to use them for free and without time limits. In the spring, a screenwriters’ strike also started in Hollywood, and the issue of AI use was also one of the main concerns of its participants. This action has recently stopped, but negotiations with the actors are still ongoing.
Meanwhile, it has become known that Netflix plans to raise prices after the actors’ strike ends.
