Double debut: the new BMW X2 coupe-crossover and the BMW iX2 electric car

BMW has introduced the second-generation BMW X2, a coupe-like version of the BMW X1: also a compact crossover, but with a sportier character.

Especially when it comes to the “hot” version of the BMW X2 M35i xDrive: a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine (300 hp in Europe or even 317 hp in the United States), numerous M-spoilers, enlarged M-wheels, M-sports seats, an exhaust system (also M, of course) and even optional brakes from the world of supercars. It’s a complete “M-stuffing”!

Although, probably, most of the sales will be of much more relaxed versions with mono-drive and conventional engines. For example, the BMW X2 sDrive 20i gasoline car is ready to offer a 170-horsepower 1.5-liter 3-cylinder “turbo” with an MHEV hybrid. Or another example: the turbo diesel version of the BMW X2 sDrive 18d has a 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine with 150 horsepower.

It’s unlikely that these versions of the BMW X2 will impress with their dynamics, but in general, the car itself will be able to please its customers with numerous changes. For example, a significant increase in dimensions: 4.55-meter length (almost 20 cm added) and an increased 2.69-meter wheelbase. Or the new interior, which features two displays (10.25 and 10.7 inches) running BMW’s proprietary OS 9.

The new model will also inspire all fans of electric vehicles, as the range of the new model includes an electric version of the BMW iX2 xDrive 30.

The BMW iX2 electric car is equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery (this is the usable capacity) – accordingly, it promises a range of 417-449 km according to the WLTP measurement rules. In addition, the BMW iX2 electric crossover can offer all-wheel drive and considerable power (230 kW or 313 hp) thanks to two electric motors – the M170SF in front and the M170SR at the rear. In addition, the BMW iX2 is distinguished by its own styling and improved aerodynamics: Cd coefficient = 0.25 compared to 0.27 for other versions of the BMW X2.

It looks like the BMW iX2 electric car will be one of the best-selling models of the new BMW X2 in Europe. But how attractive does the BMW X2 in M-performance look! Which version of the new BMW X2 would you choose? Or none at all?
