Samsung has unveiled the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone, the first update in several years to the company’s fan lineup. This lineup has a design similar to the flagship models, but is inferior in some features and materials.

Here are the key features of the new Galaxy S23 FE:

Processor: Galaxy S23 FE comes with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 or Exynos 2200 chip, depending on the region. While this is an upgrade over the Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 used in the S21 FE, they are not as advanced as Qualcomm’s latest “Galaxy” processors in the 2023 flagship lineup.

Memory and storage: The base model now starts with 8GB of RAM, eliminating the previous 6GB option. Available storage options: 128 GB or 256 GB, but there is no expandable storage.

Camera update: The main camera has been significantly upgraded to a 50-megapixel sensor from the previous 12-megapixel sensor. However, the ultra-wide-angle camera remained at 10 megapixels, and the telephoto lens is 8 megapixels with 3x zoom. Interestingly, the selfie camera has been reduced to 10 megapixels from 32 megapixels in the last two FE models.

Display: The smartphone is equipped with a 6.4-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 60 Hz to 120 Hz.

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE: key updates and features

Design and assembly: S23 FE is slightly larger and heavier than the S21 FE, measuring 158×76.5×8.2 mm and weighing 209 grams. The smartphone is made of recycled materials, including used aluminum and glass, as well as plastic derived from discarded fishing nets and PET bottles.

Software and durability: The device comes with Android 13/One UI 5.1 and promises four OS updates, as well as five years of security patches. It also boasts IP68 dust and water protection.

Battery and charging: Despite the larger size, the battery capacity remains unchanged at 4500 mAh. Wired charging is limited to 25 watts, and wireless charging is also supported.

Price and availability: Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will go on sale on October 5 in the US at a starting price of $599.

The design, like Samsung’s flagships, and a generally good set of features for a lower price will likely make the Galaxy S23 FE. a new hit for Samsung.
