Alfa Romeo is preparing a new compact electric crossover

This is simultaneously reported by Carscoops and several other independent sources, so it seems to be true. What are we talking about? The point is that Alfa Romeo is preparing a new model that should “close” several market segments at once.

Firstly, it will be a very compact crossover: approximately 4.1 meters long and 1.8 meters wide, but with slightly increased ground clearance and body height, and front-wheel drive only. Secondly, the new Alfa Romeo will partially resolve the issue of the MiTo’s successor: it will be a crossover, not a hatchback, but still compact and convenient for the city.

Finally, the third is that the new Alfa Romeo crossover will be built on the SMR/eSMR platform and will have an electric version. The most likely option is a 115 kW (156 hp) electric motor and a 54 kWh battery. The latter should be enough to cover about 380 km of autonomous range.

However, in addition to the electric version, a hybrid version is also expected. For example, the graphics of the digital instrument panel, where you can see the tachometer, suggests this. According to the platform used, we can expect a hybrid based on a 1.2-liter gasoline engine.

The debut of the new Alfa Romeo is scheduled for early 2024, so it won’t be long before we learn all the details and the model name.
