According to the Czech gaming publication Vortex, a fire broke out in the building housing the Prague office of GSC Game World.

An electrical fire broke out in a high-rise building on Na Pankráci Street, where GSC Game World’s office is located. Five fire trucks arrived at the scene and several dozen people were evacuated. Fortunately, no one was injured in the fire, and the damage is preliminarily estimated at 1.5 million kroons (approximately $66 thousand).

According to Vortex, the fire damaged one of the three floors occupied by GSC Game World studios, destroying office equipment and the interior. It is believed that the company’s backup servers were located on this floor. The other two floors were not damaged.

“Fortunately, none of the staff or office workers were injured, which is a great relief,” commented Olha Ryzhko, Business Development Manager at GSC Game World, “Although the fire was extinguished, one of the office floors needs to be completely reconstructed. The details are still being clarified.”

In August, it became known that the release of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was once again postponed, this time to the first quarter of 2024. It is not yet known whether this fire will lead to an additional shift in the game’s release date.
