The large-scale role-playing game Baldur’s Gate III will be released on Xbox later this year. This is reported by Engadget with reference to the developer Larian Studios.

The main reason for the delay in the release of Baldur’s Gate III on Xbox was Microsoft’s rules regarding the equality of game opportunities on Series S and Series X consoles. The latter is the more powerful of the two consoles and usually provides a higher frame rate.

“we’ve found a solution that allows us to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox players this year still, something we’ve been working towards for quite some time,” said Sven Winke, CEO of Larian and director of Baldur’s Gate III, speaking about the meeting with Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer.

He also hinted that Spencer has granted Larian an exception to the rule of equality of opportunity between the Series S and Series X. On less powerful systems, Baldur’s Gate III will not have split-screen mode, but Series X will support this feature. Cross-saving between Steam and both consoles will also be supported.

Earlier, it was reported that the number of simultaneous players in Baldur’s Gate III on Steam on the day of release exceeded 472 thousand people.
