Half-Life 2 RTX – a modification of the classic game with RTX support and updated models

NVIDIA has announced Half-Life 2 RTX, a custom remaster of the original Half-Life 2 with RTX support and updated graphics.

Just like Portal with RTX, it’s a free custom modification for Half-Life 2 owners (I wonder if there are people who don’t have Half-Life 2?).

Half-Life 2 RTX is being developed by the Orbifold Studios community of modders, of course, using all the wonders of modern NVIDIA graphics cards: Physically Based Rendering (PBR), ray tracing, DLSS 3, Reflex, RTX IO. But in the comparison screenshots, NVIDIA is a bit of a jerk. It’s not just RTX ON / RTX OFF. With the help of the mod, Half-Life 2 will get new textures, new geometry for models, and more. The textures will be 8 times larger, the geometry will have 20 times more polygons.

Half-Life 2 RTX doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can follow its fate on the project’s site. Half-Life 2 RTX doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can follow its progress on the project’s site.

Again, to avoid getting up twice. The aforementioned Portal with RTX has received support for NVIDIA DLSS 3.5.

In fact, NVIDIA is currently building an entire Omniverse platform for enthusiasts who plan to add modern graphics to classic games. Why not, remasters are selling well now.
