The Volkswagen company released detailed information about the new Volkswagen Passat series B9 and showed an image of the car in a camouflage film.

The most important thing is that the new Volkswagen Passat will be offered only in the wagon body, because the role of a sedan will be occupied by an electric car Volkswagen ID.7, which was shown back in the spring. In addition, the novelty will significantly increase in dimensions: the length will reach the 4.92-meter mark (+14 cm compared to the current model), and the wheelbase will increase to 2.84 meters.

The Volkswagen Passat will be built on the MQB Evo platform: it will receive an updated DCC Pro independent suspension, front or all-wheel drive, gasoline TSI and diesel TDI engines – all at the choice of buyers. However, perhaps the most interesting feature will be the appearance of two variants of PHEV hybrids: 204 or 272 hp. power and with an increased battery (about 20 kWh) – it should be enough for 120 km of mileage in electric mode.

The interior has also been significantly changed. In front of the driver is a flat digital instrument panel with a 10.25-inch display and a steering wheel with the usual non-touch buttons. By the way, note: the DSG gear shift knob has turned into a joystick, which is installed under the steering wheel. And in the center of the front panel – a 12.9- or even 15-inch display will be installed, below which there are ventilation deflectors.

The increased wheelbase promises a proportional increase in legroom for rear passengers. And the increase in overall length promises an increase in trunk volume: 690 l in the standard position or 1,920 l with the rear seats folded.

The full-fledged debut of the new Volkswagen Passat will take place in the fall – then we will see the general design of the new product. The start of production and sales is planned for the beginning of 2024.
