Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on PC a month earlier than planned

Larian Studios decided to release Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC a month earlier than planned. The reason is not to compete with the other two AAA RPGs coming out in September – Starfield (6 September 2023) and Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty (September 26, 2023).

So the new release dates for the much-anticipated Baldur’s Gate 3 are August 3, 2023, on PC and September 6, 2023, on PlayStation 5. The game was previously slated for August 31, 2023, on both platforms. I wonder what about the Xbox Series X/S version, which is apparently still in the plans, so far nothing has been heard.

In addition to the announcement, Larian Studios recalled some statistics that allow you to understand the scale of Baldur’s Gate 3.

The script for Baldur’s Gate 3 is over 2 million words long, three times longer than all three Lord of the Rings books combined. The game has more than 170 hours of cutscenes and video inserts, which is twice the length of the entire Game of Thrones series.

The player has access to 7 pre-created heroes, each with their own story, character, desires, and goals. In addition, you can create a custom character by choosing one of 11 game races and 31 subraces with different body types and from 12 classes and 46 subclasses. Baldur’s Gate 3 has over 600 spells and abilities!

As a reminder, Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on PC in Steam and GOG. On consoles, it is so far only on PlayStation 5.

The Steam Early Access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 is already has reached sales of 2 million copies and has very favorable feedback from players.
