Elon Musk is in talks to hire NBCUniversal’s head of global advertising and partnerships, Linda Yaccarino, as CEO of Twitter. This was reported by sources familiar with the matter, writes The New York Times.
According to them, the relevant negotiations have been going on for several weeks and are at an advanced stage. Last month, Linda Yaccarino interviewed Elon Musk on stage at a promotional event in Miami.
The day before, the CEO of Twitter said that he had chosen a new CEO of the company, but did not name names. In his tweet, he only indicated that the new leader would start in six weeks and that it would be a woman.
Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!
My role will transition to being exec chair & CTO, overseeing product, software & sysops.

At the same time, Musk himself will remain in the position of executive chairman and “technical director”, which usually means chief technical officer. He will also continue to oversee Twitter’s products and software.
We will remind that Elon Musk declared his intention to resign as CEO of Twitter as soon as a worthy replacement is found. He conducted a poll on whether he should resign, and Twitter users overwhelmingly voted in favor of his resignation.
