Ukrainian National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption included Xiaomi in the list of international sponsors of war

Ukrainian National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption announced that it included the Chinese corporation Xiaomi Corporation in the list of international sponsors of the war. The reason for this decision was that the company not only continued its work in Russia after the full-scale invasion, but still remains the leader in smartphone sales there.

NACP notes that Xiaomi managed to increase supplies to the Russian Federation by 39% in the third quarter of 2022 compared to the previous one. And although the company stopped marketing activity on the Russian market, it continued to work actively on it.

Even before that, NACP added 21 companies to the list of international sponsors of the war. Among them are Raiffeisen Bank, Metro AG, Auchan, P&G (Procter & Gamble), Bonduel and others. NACP declares that cooperation with such companies becomes risky. After all, the companies included in the list are included in the World-Check database, which records high-risk individuals and organizations and is used worldwide to identify and manage financial, regulatory and reputational risks.

However, in essence, the entry of companies into the list of international sponsors of the war by NACP has no other legal consequences. Raffeisen Bank, Metro AG and Auchan continue their work in Ukraine. Thus, it is unlikely that we will see a mass refusal of online stores to sell Xiaomi smartphones.
