Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray debuts: when hybrid is all about power

Another icon has fallen! Or not? After all, the new version of the Chevrolet Corvette called E-Ray for the first time in history turned this famous American supercar into a hybrid, and with all-wheel drive. But it’s not just like that: from now on, the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray can offer significantly more power and improved dynamics.

From the outside, the new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is distinguished by wide side air intakes, its proprietary front bumper, grille behind, original wheels, and several E-Ray logos. But inside…

And inside we got a combination of an atmospheric 6.2-liter V8 LT2 engine (502 hp) for driving the rear wheels, and an electric motor (163 hp) for driving the front wheels. The total power of the hybrid version of the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray reaches 665 hp. Therefore, the dynamics of such a supercar improved significantly: the first hundred km/h is achieved in 2.5 seconds, and the quarter is overcome in only 10.5 seconds.

And this is despite a significant increase in the weight of the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray: this version weighs 1,712 kg compared to the traditional Chevrolet Corvette’s 1,530 kg. After all, in addition to the electric motor in the front, it is also worth mentioning the intermediate battery in the central tunnel and additional control units.

And it is also worth mentioning the luxurious salon, where high-quality leather and carbon decor are perfectly combined. By the way, the differences between the hybrid version of the Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray and the usual ones are only in the details – for example, the original settings of the digital instrument panel.

The Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is now available for order. The price on the US market starts at $104,000. Well, should we buy it?
