Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 will get a mini-hybrid and robotic transmission instead of an automatic one

The popular crossover Peugeot 3008 and its older brother Peugeot 5008 are preparing for an update for the European market. We will remind you that a few years ago these cars underwent a planned facelift, but this does not apply to the appearance or the interior. At the moment, we are talking about technology.

However, the changes are very radical, namely, the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 will receive a hybrid system based on a 3-cylinder 1.2-liter gasoline engine. The power of the hybrid will be 136 hp. (the regular version of such a gasoline engine offers 130 hp), but the torque will not change – it will remain at the level of 230 Nm. However, the engine itself will change: a new turbine, a timing chain instead of a belt, a Miller economy cycle. And, of course, an addition in the form of a small electric motor for 29 “horses”.

At the same time, the electric motor will be installed in combination with the new transmission: yes, it will also change. Instead of the 8-speed automatic Aisin, from now on such hybrid versions of the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 should receive a preselective robotic transmission with a double clutch.

It is expected that thanks to technical “upgrades”, the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 crossovers will be able to improve their efficiency by 15% immediately and will meet Euro-7 environmental standards. And then we will see the brand new Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008 crossovers…
