In a statement posted on its social channels, Rockstar said it was “extremely disappointed” that details about the game had been leaked in this way, and assured that the leak would not delay GTA 6.

“We recently suffered a network intrusion in which an unauthorized third party illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information from our systems, including early development footage for the next ‘Grand Theft Auto,” the statement said.

“At this time, we do not anticipate any disruption to our live game services or any long-term effect on the development of our ongoing projects.”

“We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way. Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.”

“We will update everyone again soon and, of course, we will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support through this situation.”

We will remind that more than 90 videos of GTA 6‘s gameplay have been leaked online, prompting Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two, to fight for having them removed.

At Take-Two’s request, most of the videos have been removed from YouTube. Additionally, two of the largest online Grand Theft Auto communities have been asked to remove any links to GTA 6 videos.

Many developers have publicly expressed their support for Rockstar following the leak, the most significant of which was a statement from Xbox corporate vice president Sarah Bond.

Bond expressed her solidarity with the game’s development team on Twitter, writing that she sympathizes with how frustrating it must be to share your work before it’s ready for release.

“My thoughts are with the team at Rockstar Games,” wrote Bond. “It can be disheartening to have a project you’ve worked hard on to delight fans revealed and critiqued before it’s ready. I know they’re creating something special and can’t wait to experience GTA6 when it’s officially unveiled”.
