Due to the full-scale attack by Russia, which has been going on for almost 6 months now, Ukraine has become one of the most mined countries in the world, and the territories liberated from the occupiers will require years of demining. To speed up this process, Ukrainian logistics company Nova Poshta and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine have joined forces to develop robot sappers. As part of the cooperation, two models will be created: for demining reservoirs and for dry land.

Robots will be able not only to find mines, but also to neutralize them. This will help speed up demining of the entire territory of Ukraine and save the lives of pyrotechnicians. The State Emergency Service determined the basic requirements for such robots, and Nova Poshta took responsibility for the technical direction, as well as for finding and attracting partners.

“Ukraine is currently one of the most mined countries in the world. About 200,000 square kilometers, which is almost a third of the country’s territory, need demining. Robots can do it the fastest. And we at Nova Poshta have accumulated considerable experience in the field of robotics. Together with Ukrainian startups and our own R&D team, we have already developed and implemented three models of robots at our facilities. Now we will use this expertise in a joint project with rescuers to help return Ukraine to a safe life as soon as possible,” said Oleksii Taranenko, Development Director of Nova Poshta.

The companies plan to develop and provide pyrotechnic calculations for at least 20 robots of each type.

We would like to remind you that due to the high level of mined territories, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine has already participated in the creation of several applications that inform users about mine danger – this is Demining of Ukraine and MineFree. The State Emergency Service reported earlier about what mines were used on the territory of Ukraine and how to recognize them.
