Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, who have a combined 686 million followers, have told Instagram to “stop trying to be TikTok.” They posted the call on Stories, reports Insider.

“Make Instagram Instagram again (stop trying to be TikTok, I just want to see cute photos of my friends). Sincerely, everyone,” both influencers shared.

Models and businesswomen have a lot of influence on Instagram. After Kylie Jenner tweeted in 2018 that she would stop using Snapchat after its redesign, its stock fell 8% the same day. Damages at that time were estimated at $1 billion.

Influencers’ statements are very untimely for Meta. The company is making several changes to its main products – Facebook and Instagram – to make them more like TikTok. Facebook feed is awaiting redesign and will offer more recommended content.

Instagram focuses on Reels and will share all videos shorter than 15 minutes in this format. Over time, it plans to add more recommendations for users like TikTok does. However, not everyone, especially famous users, agree with these changes.
