Continuing the topic of video game movie adaptations, it has recently become known that Duke Nukem is going to make a movie based on a series of games.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Legendary Entertainment (Dune, Godzilla vs. Kong, Jurassic World, WarCraft, etc.) has acquired the rights to screen version of the legendary game from Gearbox Software, which in recent years has not given up hope to make a movie alone. The first mention of it dates back to 2018, when Gearbox together with Paramount tried to launch the movie into production, and the wrestler and actor John Cena (The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker) was planned for the starring role.

In addition to Legendary Entertainment, Cobra Kai’s Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg will also be producing the Duke Nukem movie. The producer’s chair will be taken by Jean Julien Baronnet, who was involved in this adaptation from the beginning, with the participation of Gearbox Software (in the past, among other things, he was the producer of the Assassin’s Creed movie).

Filming will begin soon. The studio is now looking for a screenwriter and director of the upcoming movie.
