Daniel Radcliffe will play the famous parodist in the Weird: The Al Yankovic Story biopic
“Weird Al” Yankovic is a comedy singer who became famous for his brilliant parodies of world-famous hits. Unfortunately, he is almost unknown in our country, but in the West he was very popular at the time – the peak of his career was in the late 80’s – early 90’s, but “Weird Al” Yankovic still refuses to “retire” and from time to time does new works.
You may have seen clips like Amish Paradise (parody on Coolio “Gangsta’s Paradise”), Smells Like Nirvana (Nirvana “Smells Like Teen Spirit”), Like A Surgeon (Madonna “Like A Virgin”) або Fat (Michael Jackson “Bad”) and if you didn’t know who was that strange singer, who successfully copied famous artists – that’s him, “Weird Al” Yankovic. In his long career, he has actually recorded nearly a dozen studio albums (six went platinum) and more than 50 music videos – for which he received five Grammy Awards.
Such a contribution to world music deserves respect, so it is not surprising that the singer will finally get his own biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. The main character will be played by Daniel “Harry Potter” Radcliffe. Also, Madonna will be played by Evan Rachel Wood, an actress known for her role as Dolores in the Westworld series.
Weird: The Al Yankovic Story is set to release this fall on the Roku streaming platform, and the company has already released its first teaser trailer.
