After working or playing at a computer for a long time, you unwittingly come to understand the importance of organizing your workplace and the role that a seat plays in it. After all, you can spend time behind a screen with constant fatigue and occasional back pain, or vice versa, with comfort and increased productivity. The Cougar Armor EVO gaming chair promises the latter option thanks to its design with a lot of adjustments, lumbar support, and breathable eco-leather. I will tell you whether this is true in this review.
Design and materials
The Cougar Armor EVO is a fairly large chair with a wide base and backrest, as well as pronounced lateral support. The seat width reaches 59 cm, and the depth to the backrest is from 47 to 50 cm, depending on the adjustment. The model has an openly playful design with orange inserts and stitching, as well as a large Cougar logo on the backrest.
But in general, there are not so many bright elements here, the main color of this model is black, and for those who do not like orange inserts, there is a version of the Armor EVO Royal without them.
The chair has a steel frame and a base with wheels made of Vortex aluminum alloy. The wheels themselves are oversized, so it is quite easy to move the chair not only on a flat floor, but also, for example, on a thick-pile carpet.
The Cougar Armor EVO is equipped with a Class 4 gas lift cylinder for height adjustment. The chair is designed for a maximum load of 160 kg.
Polyvinyl chloride, also known as eco-leather, was used for the upholstery of the Cougar chair. It is a pleasant to the touch, soft material that perfectly withstands active use and hardly ever gets rubbed off. The manufacturer notes that it uses thick PVC leather, which is generally confirmed by the fact that the material does not stretch and retains its shape well.
The armrests of Cougar Armor EVO are made of soft plastic, and they show the most signs of use, so you’ll need to wipe them more often. However, this is quite easy to do with a regular damp cloth.
In general, the chair has a traditional gaming design with an adequate number of bright elements, high-quality materials, and a good build quality.
Adjustment and use of Cougar Armor EVO
The Cougar Armor EVO has a lot of adjustments that allow you to customize the chair to your own needs and seating position. Traditionally for such models, you can start with the height adjustment. The gas lift cylinder allows you to change the height of the Armor EVO from the floor to the seat in the range of 37 to 44 mm.
The angle of the backrest can be changed from 90 to 180 degrees, so you can actually rest on it lying down, the base with legs can withstand such a load without any problems, and Cougar Armor EVO does not tilt, at least if you do not make sudden movements. This is especially important after using the switch that allows you to recline the back of the chair and rock on it.
I forgot about it several times when I was stretching in my chair in the morning. The sensation of the back suddenly tilting backwards makes it easy to wake up quite quickly, even without coffee. But to the Armor EVO’s credit, there was no hint that the chair was about to tip over. Although I instinctively tried to grab the table.
The armrests have the most adjustment options. Cougar Armor EVO allows you to adjust their height, length, which is especially useful if your desk is not very deep, the angle of rotation for ergonomic keyboard work, and even set them closer or further apart. This approach allows you to customize the position of the armrests to your own needs, with all the adjustments at your fingertips.

The latter is additionally equipped with a mechanism that allows you to adjust the lumbar support, both its height and depth. This way, the backrest adapts to the contour of your back.
Another interesting feature of the Cougar Armor EVO is the neck pillow made of foam material, which is attached not with a traditional strap, but with a strong magnet. This approach allows you to conveniently position the pillow by simply dragging it to the desired location on the top of the back.
Most of the seat and backrest eco-leather has perforations that allow air to flow through and reduce the amount of artificial material. But it’s worth noting that this won’t help much in very hot weather. The chair came to me in early September, so I had time to use it during some pretty hot weather.
When the temperature in the room rises above 25 degrees Celsius, the seat perforation doesn’t help much, and in this case you should rely on the air conditioner. In other conditions, the perforation really improves airflow, and it’s not hot to sit on the Armor EVO for a long time.
