A "rear-view camera" has been found on a Russian Orlan drone. It could potentially be used to allow the operator to deflect the UAV in the event of attacks by Ukrainian interceptor drones, military radio technology expert Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov said.
He also posted a photo of the camera itself. The photo shows that it has a protective casing, but the expert does not provide its specifications.
In addition, Flash emphasizes that the anti-aircraft drones of the Russian Rubicon unit are also causing more and more losses to our reconnaissance UAVs. Therefore, Ukrainian specialists are now also looking for all possible solutions against them. The Rubicon unit itself is now considered one of the best in Russia.
This is not the first modification of the "Orlan". Earlier, anti-aircraft guns of the 118th Mechanized Brigade shot down another "Orlan", which was carrying two FPV drones. Such a mother UAV is capable of transporting FPV over long distances and working as a signal repeater.
By the way, Ukraine is actively developing the production and use of interceptors. For example, the Besomar company recently introduced a reusable aircraft-type interceptor drone with a shotgun with an automatic firing system.
This is not the only development in this direction. Another drone-interceptor is called Sting from "Wild Hornets". It was recently accelerated to 315 km/h.
At the end of July, Defence Minister Denys Shmyhal said that Ukraine had already ordered interceptor drones worth over UAH 3 billion under four contracts.
At the same time, the enemy is looking for countermeasures against Ukrainian interceptors. According to "Flash", the Russian Shaheds began performing a complex of complex maneuvers in flight aimed at reducing the effectiveness of Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones.
