Tesla recalls Cybertruck again – this time due to a metal panel falling off

- 20 March, 02:00 PM

Tesla is recalling the Cybertruck again. More than 46,000 electric vehicles in the United States are being recalled because the decorative "cantrail trim" panel that covers the top of the body is falling off. Sometimes it falls off while the car is moving, Reuters reports.

According to a report from the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), a detached panel can pose a hazard on the road and increase the risk of an accident.

Tesla is promising to replace the Cybertruck panel and fix the problem for free. At the same time, the company's electric vehicles are already responsible for 21% of all car recalls in the US in the first three quarters of the year. However, it is worth noting that many of the previous problems were fixed with software updates and did not require drivers to visit the service center.

As Mezha mentioned in a previous article about the Cybertruck, this problem is not the first time. In June 2024, Tesla recalled 11,000 electric vehicles with the same problem, which was attributed to a glue defect. However, when the problem was repeated, it turned out that glue was used again, and therefore the company cannot yet completely fix this defect.

This is not the first time Tesla has recalled the Cybertruck. Last October, the company recalled the pickup truck for the fifth time, then over issues with the rearview camera. In June, in addition to issues with panels falling off, the electric vehicle also had faulty windshield wipers and a stuck accelerator pedal.
