McLaren has completed testing of its upcoming W1 hypercar in ultra-low temperatures, testing the new V8 hybrid powertrain to the limit in the Arctic Circle, writes Hypebeast.

The cold-weather testing program focused on fine-tuning the W1's chassis, traction control, torque vectoring and electronic stability control on extremely low-grip surfaces.

The 1,257-horsepower MHP-V8 W1 engine and battery have undergone rigorous endurance tests to ensure their reliability and stable operation in cold conditions. Engineers have also tuned the transmission and battery to perform well in low temperatures.

Usually these tests are kept secret, but McLaren decided to show this important stage to the public.

Recall that McLaren presented the W1 model in October 2024. According to the company, this hypercar accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and can reach a maximum speed of 350 km/h. A total of 399 such cars are planned to be produced, and the price of the model will be $2.1 million.
