Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor game director Stig Asmussen is working on a new adventure game set in the Dungeons & Dragons universe with Wizards of the Coast. This will be the first project from the studio Giant Skull, which Asmussen founded in late 2023, VentureBeat reports.
The studio specializes in story-driven action-adventure games with a focus on gameplay. The game is being developed on Unreal Engine 5 for PC. Console versions will be announced later. There is no information about the upcoming game at this time - it is likely that the release will take place no earlier than 2026.
Stig Asmussen worked on Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor at Respawn Entertainment. The games received rave reviews for their engaging story-driven campaign, combat system, and visual style. 2019's Fallen Order was a surprise hit, and Survivor is an even more ambitious sequel with a deeper story and expanded gameplay.
Wizards of the Coast president John Hite called the Giant Skull team "the perfect partners" for such a project. Asmussen himself stated that the goal of the game is to "create a new Dungeons & Dragons universe with a meaningful story, heroic combat, and dynamic world exploration."
It's one of several games that Wizards of the Coast is working on after ending its partnership with Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur's Gate 3. The publisher's other projects include the sci-fi RPG Exodus from Archetype Entertainment and Snake Eyes, a game set in the GI Joe universe from Atomic Arcade.
