Plug-In Ukraine exhibition: Xiaomi electric cars, Ukrainian EV bikes, charging stations and discussions with professionals
The specialized exhibition Plug-In Ukraine is back! Even if in a mini format relative to itself, several years ago, but with the same focus: electric vehicles and generally electrified transport, infrastructure for electric cars, useful discussions of industry experts on important topics of the electric present of Ukraine. This is in general. And if in detail…
Xiaomi electric cars: first impressions
Probably the most important "highlight" of the exhibition were Xiaomi electric cars – the YU 7 crossover and the SU 7 sedan. And the first impressions are quite positive: the laconic design is actually very interesting in detail (which is only worth the hidden door handles or complex shapes of the lights), the interior uses quite high-quality materials and there was a place for physical switches on the steering wheel. The Xiaomi YU 7 crossover was also remembered for its 3D projection in the lower part of the windshield, and the Xiaomi SU 7 sedan was remembered for being presented in the maximum Ultra version – yes, this is when there are more than 1.5 thousand "horses" and an aerodynamic body kit, and also with sports brakes.
The announced price tags are no less impressive than the electric cars themselves; however, not in the way you might think, but on the contrary. For example, the price of the Xiaomi YU 7 crossover as at the exhibition is from $49.9 thousand, the price of the Xiaomi SU 7 Ultra electric sedan is from $88 thousand, and in general the Xiaomi SU 7 electric car in the Max version can be purchased in Ukraine for a price of about $47.9 thousand. More affordable versions can also be brought to order.
With such a design, characteristics, and prices, it seems that Xiaomi electric cars will soon become a bestseller in their class, as happened in the last year or two with ZEEKR electric cars. By the way…
ZEEKR, Polestar, BYD and others
Of course, the exhibition also featured ZEEKR electric cars , which are already well-known in Ukraine – the large ZEEKR 001 hatchback and the ZEEKR 7 X crossover. The latter is now gradually gaining popularity, offering buyers a pleasant design, good characteristics, and an adequate price.
Also, next to the ZEEKR electric cars, their technological "relative" Polestar 4 is presented: as of now, all these brands are somehow related to the Chinese company Geely and often use common technical developments. On the other hand: electric cars and the Polestar brand itself "grew" from the Volvo heritage, which is noticeable in the design and interior decoration.
Finally, I would like to note other exhibits of the Plug-In Ukraine 2025 exhibition: the compact and fully electric crossover BYD Leopard 3 (from $22.5 thousand), the Plug-In hybrid crossover BYD Sea Lion 06 ($25 thousand), as well as the large crossover Denza N 9 (from $83.9 thousand), also with a Plug-In hybrid.
Electric bikes (Ukrainian and not only) and useful discussions
In addition to electric cars and electrified hybrids, other electric vehicles were also presented – for example, Ukrainian electric bikes ELEEK. At one time, this story began with electric transport for delivery and entertainment, but today the direction of building electric two-wheeled transport for the military has also been added.
And then... Nearby is a stand with ordinary civilian electric scooters. Between the electric cars and electric bikes are small stands with charging stations and electrical equipment. And nearby is a stage for speeches by experts in the electric vehicle market and discussions of current topics in the development of the EV industry.
This is how this year's Plug-In Ukraine 2025 exhibition turned out: very small in size, but with an unchanged desire to cover various areas and issues of the world of electric vehicles.
