Fortunately, there is still something to see in September. But we don’t know whether the strike of screenwriters and actors will end soon, so we advise you to go to the movies as much as possible now, because there may not be any high-profile premieres for some time. So here are some interesting new movies and TV series for September.

1. Hypnotic

The daughter of police detective Danny Rourke (Ben Affleck) disappears in the middle of a playground. A year later, the police receive a mysterious call: a bank robbery is planned and the criminals are interested in only one box, number 23. Rourke finds a photo of his missing daughter there and begins to notice that the people around him are following the orders of the mysterious Dillrane as if they were all under hypnosis…

Ben Affleck returns to the screens to delight the audience with an action movie starring him. The movie was released on March 12, but its screening in Ukraine is starting only now. The project was directed by Robert Rodriguez himself, so we hope to see his signature style.

The film premiered on September 7.

2. Haunting in Venice

The film Ghosts in Venice, based on the novel Halloween Party by Agatha Christie, is set in Venice after the Second World War, on the eve of All Saints’ Day. This is a story about the return of the famous detective Hercule Poirot. Now retired and living in self-imposed exile in the most glamorous city in the world, he reluctantly attends a séance in a decaying palazzo. When one of the guests is murdered, the detective finds himself in a sinister world of shadows and secrets.

Kenneth Branagh returns to the role of the great detective Hercule Poirot. He is involved in the movie as both an actor and director. In general, Agatha Christie adaptations with his participation have a stable audience and good ratings.

Fans of the detective genre, in particular the adventures of Poirot, are advised to go to the movie on September 14.

3. The Expendables 4

The Unstoppables are given a new mission that could save humanity from a possible nuclear war.

The Expendables is always an action movie with a typical scenario, but with one huge plus in the form of 1980s action stars. This is 100% a “dream team” on another mission. The presence of the franchise’s star cast, including Iron Man, Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis, the incredible Chuck Norris and others on the same set for more than 10 years has successfully exploited the nostalgia of the audience that grew up watching action movies of the late twentieth century. Which stars will appear in the fourth part of the series?

Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, and Wesley Snipes were involved in the previous and third parts. And if we don’t mention the second part, in which Chuck Norris himself appeared, he will personally kick us from the turn!

In the fourth “The Expendables” we will see Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and Dolph Lundgren again. Among the new characters, we will have to evaluate the performance of Curtis James Jackson III, better known as 50 Cent. Tony Jaa, Iko Juvais and Andy Garcia will also be involved. I wonder how many people will remember the previous films with their participation…

In any case, if you grew up with Rambo and The Universal Soldier, this movie is definitely worth watching.

The premiere is on September 21.

4. Eurodonbas

The documentary EuroDonbas is not just a refutation of myths and fakes. It is a search for historical truth and the restoration of the pro-European identity of the industrial Donbas.

The topic of the documentary is quite interesting, because few people remember the former name of Donetsk, Yuzivka, in honor of the Welshman John Hughes, who built the first industrial enterprises around which the city was created, due to Russian propaganda. And this is just one example of the fact that even before the Soviet Union, Donbas was a powerful industrial region that grew with the help of foreign investment from Europe.

Fans of documentaries will be able to see the project on September 21.

5. PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie

All her life, Skye has felt unappreciated by her coworkers. Eager to prove that she can be an asset to the team, Skye gets her chance when a magical meteorite crashes into Adventure Cove, giving her and the other puppies extraordinary powers that make them superheroes. They will face off against villains who want to steal the puppies’ magical artifacts and use them for evil purposes.

This movie can hardly be called a family movie, because the original Canadian show was designed for a very young audience, up to 8-9 years old. But if you have small children who like the Puppy Patrol animated series, you won’t find a better option for going to the movies with them this September. This bright and funny movie will definitely entertain kids.

The premiere will take place on September 28.

6. The Creator

During the war between the human race and the forces of artificial intelligence, Joshua (John David Washington), a former Special Forces agent, is tasked with tracking down and killing the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced artificial intelligence whose goal is to destroy all of humanity. Joshua and his team of elite operatives are sent to the dark heart of the territory occupied by artificial intelligence…

The plot of the sci-fi action movie is intriguing, and the protagonist seems to be facing a difficult moral choice in the end. The topic of the war with artificial intelligence is very relevant nowadays, and you will definitely use Chat GPT more consciously after watching this project. We hope the movie will be as uplifting as its trailer to Aerosmith’s Dream On.

The film about Skynet for a New Generation will premiere on September 28.

If you haven’t found a reason to go to the movies, there’s plenty of interesting content waiting for you at home, too.

1. Dear Child

Dear Child tells the story of a girl named Lena, who was kidnapped and placed in a closed room. Her every day follows a strict schedule. Later, the young woman manages to escape and is hospitalized after a car accident. But the true extent of this nightmare becomes apparent when Lena’s parents arrive at the hospital the same night. For almost 13 years, they have been desperately searching for their missing daughter.

The 6-episode detective series from the Germans may become one of the most important premieres of this month. The story itself is partly reminiscent of the 2015 film The Room, where the main characters also lived in isolation, but in Dear Child, the authors focused more on investigating the mysterious disappearance of Lena’s character for 13 years.

We are looking forward to the premiere of all 6 episodes on September 7 on Netflix.

2. The Changeling

The story takes place in an alternate New York City, where a man is searching for his kidnapped son and missing wife.

The series is based on the novel by Victor Laval and combines such genres as drama, fantasy and horror. The novel itself has received positive reviews, so we expect a good story.

The first three episodes will premiere on Apple TV+ on September 8.

3. The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon

Daryl Dixon washes up on the shores of France. It is difficult for him to understand how he got there and why. The series tells the story of his journey through France, occupied by the living dead. On his way, he is forced to fight not only zombies, but also people, who sometimes become an even worse problem.

The Walking Dead franchise may die one day, but not today. We’ve already written about the spinoff called Dead City about the journey of Negan and Maggie, and now it’s the turn of one of the most charismatic characters in the original, Daryl Dixon. It’s good that the location has been moved to France, we can definitely use new interesting locations and it’s really interesting how the character ended up across the ocean.

Fans of the original series who were able to watch all 11 seasons will definitely appreciate it! It premieres on AMC+ on September 10, with new episodes coming out once a week.

4. The Continental: From the World of John Wick

The Continental: From the World of John Wick tells the backstory of how Winston Scott, in an alternate history of the 1970s, became the owner of the New York branch of The Continental hotel chain, a safe haven for killers, where murder is forbidden.

The John Wick franchise is known primarily for its incredible action, which surprised even in the 4th installment, and its noir style with a lot of neon. Therefore, we hope the three-part series will keep the tradition and demonstrate all the features we love about these films. Maybe the project will reveal some obscure aspects of the tetralogy. For example, it will become clearer how this “world of killers” functions at all, because in the last parts it seemed as if there were 10 professional killers for every 1 civilian. We will be satisfied with both a beautiful action movie and an attempt to add details to the overall story.

It premiered on September 22, and the last episode will be released on October 6 on the Peacock streaming service.

5. Gen V

From the world of The Boys comes a spinoff called Generation V, which tells the story of the first generation of superheroes who learned that their superpowers come from Compound V. These heroes test their physical and moral limits as they compete for the highest ranking in the school.

The Boys is one of the best TV series in recent years. The original impressed with its cruelty, black humor and very bold trolling of modern society. Remember the trashy situations that arose because of the superheroes in the original? In the spinoff, teenagers with their impulsiveness and imbalance will get deadly powers. This opens up an incredible space for interesting moments and satire. Moreover, the spinoff is being written by Eric Kripke, the author of the original, so we expect the same level of quality.

We are looking forward to the new series from the Boys universe on September 29 on Amazon Prime Video.
