Along with the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which you can read about here, Samsung has introduced the junior models of the series - Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+. Both devices retain the key features of the new line, including the use of the latest Qualcomm platform and the improved One UI 7 shell based on Android 15. At the same time, they have several differences in size, battery capacity, and charging speed. Below are the details of all the main innovations.
Design of Galaxy S25 and Galaxy S25+
Compared to the older S25 Ultra model, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ have minimal design changes. In addition to the new colors, the only noticeable innovation in the case is the thinner body.
Overall, the Galaxy S25 now measures 146.9 x 70.5 x 7.2 mm, and the Galaxy S25+ measures 158.4 x 75.8 x 7.3 mm. In line with the reduction in size, the weight has also decreased: Galaxy S25 weighs 162 grams, and the "plus" weighs 190 grams.
The case materials have not changed: the frame of the smartphone case is made of reinforced aluminum, and the front panel is covered with Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
Both models have an IP68 rating, which means protection against dust and water up to a depth of 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
Display
The Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The Galaxy S25+ has a 6.7-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X also with a frequency of 1-120 Hz.
Both devices feature Vision Booster and Adaptive Color Tone technologies that improve readability in the sun and adjust color tone to ambient light.
Performance and software
All models in the Galaxy S25 lineup, including the base and "plus" versions, now use Qualcomm's flagship platform with Snapdragon 8 Elite processor (for Galaxy) and Adreno 830 graphics.
When it comes to RAM and storage configurations, the Galaxy S25 has options:
- 12GB RAM + 128GB
- 12GB RAM + 256GB
- 12GB RAM + 512GB
The Galaxy S25+ doesn't have a 128GB option, so you can choose here:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB
- 12 GB RAM + 512 GB
There is no support for memory cards.
The smartphones support 5G, LTE, the new Wi-Fi 7 standard, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
Both smartphones run Android 15 with the updated One UI 7 proprietary shell. The features are the same as in the Galaxy S25 Ultra: deep integration of Google's Gemini chatbot and Samsung's own AI developments.
As a result, the S25 and S25+ have enhanced voice and text commands: you can ask the AI agent to find a cafe nearby and immediately create an event in the calendar, send an invitation, and quickly extract the necessary information from a long video, and much more.
One UI 7 also brings a new lock screen to smartphones with the Now Bar, which shows real-time notifications (navigation, match results, etc.), and Now Brief provides morning and evening digests (weather forecast, sleep reports, news selections, reminders, etc.).
Cameras
Unlike the Ultra model with its 200MP sensor and new ultra-wide-angle camera, the Galaxy S25 and S25+ have the same familiar camera set:
- 12 MP ultra-wide-angle (f/2.2, 120˚ angle of view)
- 50 MP wide-cut (f/1.8, OIS, 85˚)
- 10 MP telephoto (3x optical zoom, f/2.4, 36˚ viewing angle)
- 12 MP front (f/2.2, kut ogliadu 80˚)
This is Samsung's classic basic "trio module" and selfie camera, but improved image processing thanks to the new processor should slightly raise the overall level of photo and video quality.
Battery and charging speed
According to Samsung, the battery capacity of the younger models is enough for a full day of active use:
Galaxy S25 has a 4000 mAh battery and supports 25W charging (up to 50% in about 30 minutes). It also features Fast Wireless Charging 2.0 and reversible Wireless PowerShare wireless charging to share power with headphones or watches.
Galaxy S25+ is equipped with a larger 4900 mAh battery and has a faster 45W wired charging (up to 65% in about half an hour). There is similar support for wireless charging.
First impressions and prices
The new Galaxy S25 and S25+ don't have any significant innovations, but they offer a time-tested recipe for a flagship for every day: compact size, durable materials, fast platform, high-quality screens, capable cameras, and good battery life. Now, all of this is also flavored with AI capabilities using the Gemini chatbot. We will find out very soon whether this innovation will be sufficient for customers.
Which brings us back to the issue of prices.
