Ukrainian startup Getmany, founded by developer Kyrylo Kozak and partner Vitaly Drozdin, helps agencies automate lead generation on the Upwork platform using artificial intelligence. We asked Kyrylo Kozak how the startup started, how it works, and how it uses AI.
How did Getmany start, tell us a little about the creation of the startup? How much money did you invest in the startup?
Getmany started with my journey on Upwork. I’ve been working on the platform for almost ten years, founded 2 agencies, and consult. At some point, there were a lot of requests from agency founders about optimizing their profiles, algorithms, and cover letters, and this, of course, gave me the idea to create my own product that could address these needs and help agencies with automation on Upwork. And so it happened.
Last year, my partner Vitaliy Drozdin and I opened access to beta testing of our product and received about 60 requests from Ukrainian agencies. It’s a great indicator of the Upwork community’s trust in us, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
From the very beginning, I’ve been building a startup with my own money, which I earned over 10 years of outsourcing and outstaffing on Upwork. We spent $60,000 on the MVP and tested it on several users for 6 months. The beta release of the final version of the startup cost us more than $150,000.
What tasks does Getmany automate? Is it just bidding, or are there other functions such as profile creation, competitor analysis, etc.
So, Getmany is a tool that helps agencies on Upwork attract clients around the clock, much more efficiently than a team that handles lead generation manually. Getmany eliminates the need for daily manual bidding, which is inferior to automated bidding in terms of speed, personalization, and reach. It automates the generation of cover letters and helps to analyze and generate relevant project proposals for every agency on the platform. We strive to help agency owners in Ukraine reduce their lead generation costs, compete, and earn more.
How does Getmany determine pricing for a particular project? What factors are taken into account?
The cost of a subscription for each agency depends on its size, how often it applies for jobs, and what budget it is willing to spend on it. After all, to use various features on our platform, such as templates and AI offers, you need a certain amount of credits, i.e. the internal currency for which they can be purchased.
What types of projects are best suited for using Getmany? Are there any restrictions on project size or other parameters?
Our user is any agency that offers its services on Upwork. Currently, they include such Ukrainian agencies as Applica, Brandon Archibald, Yasno Agency, OMG agency, and others. These are completely different agencies in terms of their activities, such as marketing, interior design, web design, SMM, and size, so there are no restrictions.
How does Getmany ensure that personalized offers are relevant and interesting for customers?
Getmany ensures the relevance of offers through flexible search settings that allow users to precisely define the criteria for job searches. Users can customize parameters such as budget, payment type, keywords in the title and description, as well as client data (country, rating, total spend, etc.). Thanks to this, users receive the most relevant jobs in real time.
In addition, when setting up a search, users also have access to historical information about jobs that have been previously published and meet the criteria. This allows users to see which jobs appear in the search results and analyze trends to make more informed decisions.
What artificial intelligence technologies are used at Getmany? Do you have your own developments or do you use third-party APIs?
Getmany’s technology is based on the OpenAI and Anthropic Claude language models, which are capable of generating high-quality text. Some models have been further trained on selected cover letters to improve the quality and relevance of the results. Training takes place regularly based on new data, which includes successful examples of letters that have been approved by clients.
How does Getmany ensure data security and protection of confidential information?
Our platform uses state-of-the-art encryption methods for data storage and transmission (Encryption at Rest and Encryption in Transit) to ensure the confidentiality of client information. We have also implemented access control procedures to prevent unauthorized use of data. Getmany complies with international data security standards such as GDPR.
How does Getmany monetize its platform?
We work on a subscription basis. We have different plans such as Light, Pro, Pro Plus, and Custom. The Light, Pro, and Pro Plus plans have similar features, such as an automated bidder with three AI models, job analytics, reply and view rate tracking, and performance statistics, but they differ in the number of available credits (the internal currency used to apply for jobs) and the cost of additional credits. The Custom plan includes the development of an individual development plan, strategy consulting, and support from a personal manager. Currently, we have 60 Ukrainian agencies among our clients.
Who are Getmany’s main competitors in the market?
This is a relatively new niche that does not yet have a large volume of competitive offers in Ukraine. When we launched, there was only one product on the market that could offer automated bidding. Of course, we were and still are striving to surpass it and we have already fixed most of the disadvantages on our product. Our website is available in Ukrainian, and customer support is available 7 days a week. We have a simple interface and a dashboard with systematized information on the status of bidding and analytics of the performance of offers.
What are Getmany’s plans for the development and expansion of functionality?
We plan to fully automate lead generation on Upwork. Of course, we want to expand the set of tools for our clients as quickly as possible. We have a 2-year roadmap for Upwork, and we also plan to use our expertise to implement lead generation on other platforms.
